CivicConnect ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by TeAM Consulting, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (the "Services") on iOS, Android, and the web.
By downloading, installing, or using CivicConnect, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account Information: name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account.
- Profile Information: optional profile photo, interests, and communication preferences.
- Service Requests: details, descriptions, photos, and location data you submit when reporting county issues.
- Event Registrations: RSVPs, attendance confirmations, and volunteer sign-up information.
- Communications: messages, feedback, survey responses, and chat transcripts with our in-app AI assistant.
- Community Posts: comments, likes, and interactions with news and community content.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: device model, OS version, unique device identifiers (where permitted), and mobile network info.
- App Usage Data: feature usage, screen views, session duration, and interaction patterns.
- Location Data: precise or approximate location (with your permission) for service requests, event discovery, and local news.
- Log Data: crash reports, error logs, performance diagnostics, and debugging information.
- Push Notification Tokens: device tokens used to deliver push notifications.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Google Sign-In: if you sign in via Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture.
- Apple Sign-In: if you use Sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID email or anonymized relay email.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- Provide and maintain the Services.
- Process service requests submitted to county officials.
- Send notifications about updates, events, and announcements.
- Personalize your experience based on your interests and location.
- Improve App performance and diagnose crashes.

3. Mobile App Permissions
The App may request the following permissions. You can manage or revoke these at any time in your device settings:
- Location Services: to tag service requests and show nearby events. Optional.
- Camera: to attach photos to service requests and update profile pictures. Optional.
- Photo Library: to select existing photos for uploads. Optional.
- Microphone: for voice input with the in-app AI assistant. Optional.
- Push Notifications: for alerts about service requests, events, and news. Optional.
- Cellular Data / Wi-Fi: required for App functionality and content loading.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: data in transit uses TLS 1.2+. Sensitive data at rest is encrypted using AES-256.
- Authentication: secure login with password hashing (bcrypt) and optional multi-factor authentication.
- Access Controls: role-based access for staff and administrative users.
- Secure Infrastructure: data hosted on AWS with regular security audits.
- Firebase Services: we use Firebase for push notifications and crash analytics; Firebase's security practices apply to data processed through their services.
While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. We continuously review and update our security practices.
5. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: update or correct inaccurate information through your profile.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Portability: export your data in a portable format.
- Opt-Out: disable push notifications or unsubscribe from marketing communications.
- Consent Withdrawal: revoke permissions (location, camera, etc.) through device settings.

6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide the Services or comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate business purposes such as analytics, security, and fraud prevention. After account deletion, we remove personally identifiable information within 30 days. Anonymized or aggregated data may be retained for analytics and reporting.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate and improve the Services:
- Google Sign-In — authentication (privacy policy)
- Sign in with Apple — authentication (privacy policy)
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting & analytics (privacy policy)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications (privacy policy)
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud hosting & storage (privacy policy)
- SendGrid — email delivery (privacy policy)
These services may collect device and usage information subject to their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
8. Push Notifications
With your consent, we send push notifications for service request updates, event reminders, community announcements, and emergency alerts. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
9. Children's Privacy
CivicConnect is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
10. International Users
CivicConnect is operated in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from your jurisdiction. By using the Services, you consent to such transfer.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. For significant changes, we will notify you through the App or via email. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance.
